MJAC Open Studios Day invites you to immerse yourself in the creative heart of Midland Junction Arts Centre (MJAC).

Browse the galleries and artist’s studios while discovering their stories, creative processes, and the work they have created while working in residence,

For those who have never been to MJAC before, it is also an opportunity to see the historic site that has been continuously occupied as a place of learning since 1895. You can wander through the vibrant venue and experience why this site has such as special place in the history and culture of the Swan region.

To complete the experience, there is also a chance to get your Christmas shopping done early with our new MJAC Shop being open for those eager to purchase one-of-a-kind pieces crafted by local artisans.

THE ART OF BRAIDING AND FOOD WITH ANNICK AKANNI

Visit artist, educator and textile designer Annick Akanni in her studio and join her mother Dottie for an informal gathering in the courtyard to learn the art of fibre and hair braiding.

DROP-IN PORTRAIT DRAWING WITH DAVID LEITH

Drop in and view the Sunday Portraits exhibition, meet David Leith the convener of the LiveArt Studios group and enjoy a relaxing hour of portraiture or still life drawing on the grounds of the historic Midland Junction Arts Centre.

M/others Who Make - will be held throughout the day, inviting visitors to join the creative process. Drop in and meet MJAC Artists in Residence, M/others Who Make Boorloo. Learn about their residency and community practise as they reflect on their work and experiences shared.

CONNECTIONS TO HOME

Connections to Home is a vibrant showcase celebrating the rich Aboriginal culture and local visual arts within the City of Swan region. This exhibition features twelve new artworks, each meticulously crafted by First Nation artists from the region.

SUNDAY PORTRAITS

Presented by LiveArt Studio, a collective of passionate artists bonded by their love for life drawing and portraiture, the Sunday Portraits exhibition is poised to captivate its audience while highlighting the group's unwavering dedication to art and their spirit of connection and support for fellow artists and art enthusiasts.
