As part of the MJAC Open Day visitors are welcome to visit the Veranda Studio and join in conversations with the M/others Who Make Boorloo artist community.
M/others Who Make Boorloo have been in residency at MJAC since October, where they have co-created new work around identity, visibility, care and the metamorphosis of becoming and being m/Other.
The project, Mothermorphosis invited fifteen artist-m/others from contrasting artistic and caregiving backgrounds to ‘create a space’ that collectively imagined a feminist maternal future. Through workshops and forums, the group have explored the concept of Matrescence - the metamorphosis of pregnancy, birth and the various stages of m/otherhood. As part of this research the group have invented an artistic ‘village’. The M/others Who Make Village raises both the child and the m/other through collective care, peer mentoring, rituals of transition and healing and in co-authoring new narratives about M/othermorphic identities and histories.
Meet the artists to discuss their creative outcomes from the residency and contribute to a giant M/othermorphosis Femmage.
