Suminagashi Paper Marbling with Ingrid Mulder

  • Midland Junction Arts Centre 276 Great Eastern Highway Midland, WA, 6056 Australia (map)

Learn the art of Suminagashi with Ingrid Mulder of Crow Mountain Paper. Suminagashi or “floating ink” is the process of marbling plain paper with water and ink to transform it into something vibrant and colourful. It was practiced in Japan by Shinto priests as early as the 12th century. You’ll spend the afternoon experimenting with a range of traditional inks and papers, creating fluid decorative patterned washi paper to take home on the day.

Having studied and worked at the Washi no Sato Papermaking factory in Japan for over 12 years, Ingrid has a wealth of paper making expertise to impart on new students.
