Join celebrated textiles artist Martien van Zuilen for a full day of 3D felting. This hands-on class explores the sculptural qualities of felt; creating a felt vessel and learning valuable techniques to create your own 3D felt objects; individually styled to your interest. The focus will be on working with a resist, colour and fibre blending, shadowing, textural effects such as tassels, loops & spikes, folds & baubles, and the varied ways of incorporating elementary stitch. Give yourself a new set of skills and gain inspiration for future projects in 3D felt. Previous felting experience is not necessary. Take home materials will be available to purchase from Martien on the day.
Martien van Zuilen is an established felt artisan and fibre artist based in Perth, Western Australia. She uses wool fibres, mixed media and collected objects to create complex felted forms, sculptural works and distinctive objects which are exhibited internationally.
