Discover the possibilities of block printing and the relief technique in this 3 week workshop series with artist and printmaker Phoebe Todd-Parrish. Suitable for beginner or experienced printmakers, this course will teach you how to translate your drawing or design to lino and wood blocks, and how to use and take care of your carving tools. Students will be introduced to a variety of inking techniques including blends, reduction printing, and puzzle printing that they can then apply to their printing. Additionally, students will learn the process of chine-collé; whereby a thinner washi paper is adhered to another, stronger paper using rice glue and pressure from the etching press, allowing for insertions of coloured paper in-between layers for even more diverse images.
