Sophie G Nixon is a early career artist, emerging curator and recent Honours (Fine Art) graduate living and working on Boorloo Boodja (Perth, Western Australia). Sophie works primarily with textiles and occasionally plants to create gentle sculptures and installations. Currently, she is interested in worn and damaged textiles, searching for unconventional modes of mending and repair.
Earlier this year she held her second solo exhibition, Wearing is Loving at Toy Returns in Fremantle. Sophie has previously exhibited at Mundaring Arts Centre, Heathcote Gallery and Museum, the City of Perth’s James st Light Lockers, as well as independently co-curating a group show alongside Aisyah Aaqil Sumito, titled Magical Woman at Paper Mountain last year.
