Living locally in Parkerville, Ryan Ahern is a contemporary painter and photographer practicing in Perth. Over the years, Ryan has travelled extensively, linking his arts practice to the places he visits. From Siberia to Borneo, Ryan has joined a network of creatives, gaining experiences in photography and graphic design. Frequenting Berlin, Ryan has worked as a freelance fashion and editorial photographer for a local German fashion magazine. Home in Perth, Ryan photographs various lifestyle and landscape imagery for local clients.
Ryan’s interests lay primarily in figurative painting and that which is marked by nostalgia and a subdued realism reminiscent of French impressionists and post-impressionist work.
In residence, Ryan will focus on establishing a body of work that explores the human form. He aims to contemporise past eras with a connection to modern times through a juxtaposition of concepts and imagery.
Ryan has a Bachelor in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), specialising in multimedia design and 3D animation from Curtin University, Western Australia.
