Various artists connected to DADAA’s Midland Hub will work in residence across a variety of mediums. DADAA is a leading arts and health organisation that creates access to cultural activities for people with disability or mental illness.
CHRISTOPHER HUMMEL
Christopher Hummel is a 19-year-old emerging artist from Perth’s northern suburbs. Christopher loves to virtually travel and “go on holidays in my head,” where he visits and admires different trains from around the world and the graffiti that’s on them.
During his residency at Midland Junction Arts Centre, Chris will develop works in support of his residency at the State Theatre Centre as part of the 2021 AWESOME Festival. These works will be on display at Midland Junction Arts Centre, DADAA Fremantle and the Studio Underground Foyer at the State Theatre Centre from 20 September - 2 October.
Take Christopher’s favourite train, the A-series, from Midland to Fremantle, stopping in Perth to see these three shows.
MANDY WHITE
Mandy is an Aboriginal artist of Yamatji heritage. Her works are alive with energy: in their making, in their line and in the spiritual stories told. Most of her works feature “hairy bush creatures,” inspired by traditional Yamatji and Noongar stories that her mother shared with her when she was young.
During her residency at Midland Junction Arts Centre, Mandy will develop works for an international auction ‘Art to Roam’ to support the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) Room to Roam project in Africa. She will also be creating artwork for the Joondalup Invitation Art Prize.
